Rabbit Shiny and tortoise(乌龟) Smily were neighbours. One day they were reading a story about their great grandfathers: Shiny’s and Smily’s great grandfathers decided to have a race. While Shiny’s great grandfather went to sleep during the race, Smily’s great grandfather won the race by slowly walking towards the finish line.
Smily said, “If your great grandfather didn’t go to sleep, my great granddad might never win. So his win was not a real win.”
The next day there was a notice in the jungle(丛林) newspaper. It said that there would be a race and the winner would win many prizes. The race started from the bear’s house. From there, the runners had to cross the river. But most of the animals could not both run fast and swim fast. So they didn’t know what to do. Shiny and Smily made a plan.
Shiny ran, while smily was sitting on his back. He and other animals, like the deer, reached the river side at the same time. But they saw the swift water and stood there because they were worried. None of them liked the idea of crossing the river. Smily quickly got into the water and Shiny sat on his back. Smily started swimming. Soon they reached the other side of the river. Shiny got down from Smily’s back and Smily climbed on Shiny’s back again. Shiny ran fast. They reached the finish line first.

There are several ways you can find out about the countries and places you wish to visit. You can talk to friends who have travelled to the places, you can go and see a film, or you can read travel books.
It seems that there are three kinds of travel books. The first are those that give a personal, subjective (主观的) ideas of travels which the writers have got themselves. These books can be useful if the writers share their travelling experiences with others. The second are those books which give a purely objective (客观的) information of things to be done and seen. If a cultured person has written such a book, then it is even more useful. The third kind are those books which are called “a guide” to some place. If they are good, they will describe and explain the place in detail. I think they are the most helpful for travellers. Like the first kind, they can be exciting and interesting, but their main purpose is to help the reader plan his travel in the most special way.
Whatever kind of travel book you choose, you must make sure that it does not describe everything as “wonderful”, “excellent” or “fantastic”. You must keep an open eyes on its date of publication(出版) because travel is a very practical matter and many things change quickly in the twenty-first century. Finally, you should make sure that it is easy to find the useful information for your travel.
54. The writer of the first kind of travel book gave his ideas after he .
A. travelled B. read books
C. heard a lot about travelling D. surfed the Internet
55. The underlined phrase “a cultured person” means person with .
A. a good appearance B. a good education
C. a lot of experience D. a lot of money
56. The date of publication must be noticed because .
A. the prices of travel books may be different
B. the writers of travel books may be different
C. the information in travel books is always the same
D. the information in travel books is always changing
57. According to passage, it is best to read before travelling to a place of interest.
A. the first kind of travel book B. the second kind of travel book
C. the third kind of travel book D. some travel articles in newspapers

Bikes are popular in the Dutch(荷兰). In fact, nearly half of all travel in the Dutch is by bike. Now, one Dutch bike designer( 设计师), Thomas, has taken the country’s interest in bikes by making a school bus bike.
The big bike has eight seats for kids, a driver seat for an adult(成年人), and three other seats, comfortably letting little kids for their trip to and from school. The bike even has a motor, which can help with high hills or at times when few kids on it.
So far, Thomas tells Fast Company, he’s sold 25 school-bikes, at a price of $ 25,000 each—less than it would cost to buy a traditional school bus with the same number of seats. Along with the traditional color, the bikes are yellow so that people can see them easily.
Thomas says he’s sold school bus bikes to neighboring countries such as Belgium, England and Germany, but so far, the United States hasn’t bought the school bus bike. If the U.S. agrees to buy this kind of school bus bike, it could do a lot of good to improve exercise for a young age and help them keep healthy.
